Adamant and Rune Dragons Empty
PostSubject: Adamant and Rune Dragons    Adamant and Rune Dragons EmptySat Jun 13, 2015 9:24 pm

New dragons are on the horizon, so figured i'd make a post to hypothesize how to combat them.

What we know so far:

Locations
Addy: Brimhaven Dungeon
Rune: World Gate
Gain 10k FM XP for discharging dragonfire on the mural in Brimhaven (Mural in Kethsi as well)
No Comp reqs
70, 80, 90 Slayer rooms for Adamant dragons
Reqs for rune dragons
Ritual of the Mahjarrat
Fate of the Gods

Early bird bonus increasing:
Slayer task frequency
Spawn rate
Elite spawn chance

Can kill off-task
Only elites drop boot upgrades off task
Non-elites only drop boot upgrades on task
All other drops remain unchanged by slayer task
Single way aggression
Non-instanced

Slayer assignment
Addy: Kuradal (25-30) and Morvran (30-40)
Rune: Morvran (50-75)
Increasing the KC for mithril dragon assignments (Kuradal: 30-35; Morvran 30-50)

High resistances to everything except dragonbane
Small use for the anti dragon shield in terms of mechanics
Shield + Super Anti will not give 100% protection
Rune dragons have three phases
Phase one requires dbane to break their armour

Drops
Guaranteed:
Adamant
2x Adamant Bars
Adamant dragon bones (little bit more xp than Ourg bones (10+?))
Rune
Rune Bar
Rune dragon bones (more than Frost dragon bones (40+?))

Elite Rune Specific:
Elite Rune dragons have better drops
Kethsi ring (5)
4% damage bonus against metal dragons (8% in Kuradals dungeon)
Teleports to Addy/Rune dragons
5 piece Kethsi cosmetic outfit

T90 Power Boots
Rune dragons drop attachments for Galcor boots (Tradeable)
Steadfast scales (makes Emberkeen boots)
Glaiven wing-tips (makes Flarefrost boots)
Ragefire glands (makes Hailfire boots)
Requires two attachments per upgrade
Degrade back to Glacor boots losing the attachment unless you keep it repaired (similar to royal crossbow perhaps?)

Same duration as T90 gloves (100 000 hits in combat)

How to make Dragon Bane Bolts (thanks for idea Villiama)
Levels required:
77 Mining
87 Magic
82 Smithing
80 Fletching
All required levels can be boosted or assisted, however.

First off you will need to mine the bane ore, which is located in the Glacor Cave, (its in a side cave through an energy barrier).  Use fairy ring code D K Q to access.  It is a good idea to bring porters to send ore straight to bank.

Next Tune Bane Ore (lunar spell book) must be cast on a dragon item (bones or hide) in inventory, turning all bane ore in your inventory into dragonbane ore. The dragon item is not lost – but I recommend using a bank load out to speed up process.

Next the ore can be smithed into bars at any furnace as per usual smithing.

Now the bars require the special Kethsian anvil to be made into bolts (or arrowheads). Each bar produces 50 ammo.  Fairy ring code D I R then A K S must be used to reach this anvil (on the upper level).

Finally depending which ammo choice you opted for; feathers can be added to create your finished dragonbane bolts, or headless arrows added to create your finished dragonbane arrows.

----------------------------------------------------------

Now one thing i have noticed from watching the BTS video is that the ranger is using a melee dragonfire shield, and also wearing the cosmetic trickster armor.  In what ever beta testing they have done, is this armor more useful for their testing purposes at mitigating damage (giving high defense bonuses to melee and mage damage)(obviously different in the main game - but you know how JMods can use what they like Razz)

Im thinking that for the rune dragon fight
Phase one requires removal of the dragons armor using dbane bolts, receiving regular dragon damage as expected.
Phase two sees the dragon take flight, and doing purely fire breath damage (enhanced) so that even dragonfire shield and super antifire do not fully protect.
Phase three is when i see the shield and armor relevance come into play.  I foresee the dragons wings being damaged, it lands and it enters a berserker melee/dragonfire state for the remainder of its life points.

What do you guys think? What ever the case I'm excited for a new task variety.

Thanks for all informations, I didn't know them all.

I believe Adamant dragons will be more XPs focused (hopefully another great training method), where Runite dragons will be fought more or less for GP gains.

Elite Runite Dragons seems fun, I like new mechanics and how we can progress through the fight, changing techniques and such.

I'll sure do my best to try them ASAP, maybe make bank doing so :p

People seem to be preparing by stocking up on ranged stuff. Like the pernix chaps I got yesterday sold for 3M over mid price.

I need to go make myself a bunch of dragonbane bolts. Perhaps you could make a quick guide on how to do that in this thread, Exar? Razz

Just add "bolts/arrows" for more clarification.

Other than that it looks great Smile

thanks ziksy Smile actually rewrote that paragraph as a result to further clarify that headless arrows are being used (for arrows) - good catch!
