This is a basic guide to flipping items in the Grand Exchange. I've seen alot of people in SN say they have no idea how to flip, so maybe I can help
The idea of flipping is to buy low, sell high. To do this you'll have to find the price at which an item buys at and sells for. Easiest way to do this is to buy one of the item for a high price -this will be your approximate sell price (s)- then sell the item for a very low price -this will be your approximate buy price (b)-
>This method works for items which have a high trade limit, such as consumable items, and various skilling items.
> Example: Raw Rocktail Median Price is 1800gp. You can then buy for 10% above that price to find (s) then sell for 10% below to find (b). Once you've found (b) let's say 1810gp. You can then make an offer for that price, lets assume 1850gp. After buying, you can then use (s) to complete your flip. Bank has been made.
Note that since these prices are approximations of what you should be trading at, you can vary your flips for slightly higher profit or slightly faster trade times. Also, flipping isn't instant. Sometimes it can take quite a while for offers to complete. The key to it is patience.
--LOW LIMIT ITEMS--For more expensive items, such as GWD Armour, Treasure Trail rewards, discontinued items, the trade limit can be as low as 2 per 4 hours. These trades are often quite slow and can take hours to complete. To find the (b) & (s), you'll need some tactics as well as prior knowledge on the trades of these items.
There are friends' chats specifically used to give margins on these items:
> "Nex N SS" For Glacor Boots, Nex Armour, Spirit Shield trades
> "Scapeskill" For GWD Armour, and various low trade items
These are the two I use, but there are more that you can find on the official RS forums.
You'll often only be given only one sided trades of these items, (b) or (s) only.
A good start is to keep within a 1-3% profit margin, to ensure that your item trades are completed.
> Example, Virtus Mask Median Price is 29,000,000. Someone has given you a (b) of 28,700,000. So you make an offer for 28,700,000 After the item has bought, keeping to that 1-3% profit margin, and the fact the item bought for below med price, you turn around and sell the item for 28,950,000.
This is just a simple example, and the idea can be used for many other items, even up to partyhats.
