I hate to come off sounding bitter, but it is what it is. This new skill makes me sick. Every skill in RS up till now has functions that directly affect gameplay. Atk,Str,Def,Hp,Range,Mage,Prayer - Obviously combat skills / Fishing - Catch food for gameplay / Cooking - Cook Food In Game / WoodCutting - Cut wood for fletch & fm / Fletch - Make arrows and bows for range / Firemaking - Kind of a waste of a skill but is used anywhere in RS / Crafting - Make staffs jewerly armour and so on / Mining - Mine Ore / Smith - Make Ore into usefull armours and weapons / Herblore - Make Potions for a billion different things / Agility - Allow Faster Access with shortcuts faster recovery and so on / Thieving - Another wasted skill but something that can be done anywhere in Rs / Slayer - Speaks for itself / Farming - Allows you to grow herbs and other plants for other skills / RC - Make runes for magic / Hunter - Allows you to collect secondaries for herb and summon / Construction - Make an extremely usefull house / Summon - Create familiars to aid in combat and skilling / Dungeoneering - ????????

I just don't see how it can be a skill since
1st: It's isolated in one central location
2nd: It has no bearing on anywhere else in RS but itself

It's nothing more then a humongous mini game.
Feel free to add to this either way.

I would have to agree with you in no way is this a skill yes you may need the skills you have to get from room to room .WoW player will probably love it as it reminds me of raids on WoW

Although I definitely enjoy Dungeoneering (hooray for word creation, Jagex), I agree with both of you. This is definitely more of a minigame than a skill in itself.

The group thing also adds to the minigame aura as most skills you can't actually train in a group.

The fact that you almost have to train at higher lvls in a group is kind of what sours me a little I guess. Well and the fact that it's not useful (currently) anywhere else in the game. Not any incentive to train it.

I have to agree. Its a great minigame and a huge minigame(oxymoron Smile )....but a minigame nonetheless.

I agree weets its thier game and they can do pretty much whatever they want. I just can't agree with them calling it a skill untill they incorporate it into the game a little more. Maybe they have future plans to have dungeoneering lvls affect other aspects of the game. I just know in it's current state it has no impact on RS what so ever. My best suggestion to people is just don't train it if you don't like it because it's that independent. That it doesn't affect anything if you don't Wink

if by 400k points you mean 400k tokens that's 'just' 4m xp so it's not really as bad as you say

If the xp rate and token rate remain the same then it will take several weeks for normal players to get to the first rewards and it will take a lott more time to get to the rewards they are working for.

Agree its more of a mini game, but I like it. Very Happy I haven't played WOW or any other online games that have the dungeons so I have nothing to compare it to. Don't know how far I want to train it. Don't think I'm shooting for 120 though, at least for now. Razz Looks like shattered hearts is taking the sideline. Would have been working on 8th set of rocks this Friday that coming up.

The only reason I can see that they made it a skill is because it's too big to be a minigame.
That being said, I think it should technically be a video game, with the only non-deimonheim use is the rewards and the resource dungeons. Also, as someone else mentioned, you don't need a group to train other skills.

Dungeoneering is fun though. Currently going for 85, but I might go beyond (99 eventually? maybe 100 for the lulz.) because I enjoy it
